Local Fans Get Another Chance to see Michael Jackon's music
Many Hoosiers considered legendary performer, Michael Jackson, one of their own.
Fans of the Gary native's music were looking forward to seeing new images on stage beginning next month in London, but those days will not come.
Thursday afternoon the calls from shocked listeners began to pour into Indianapolis radio station WTLC 106.7 FM.
"Don't even get me started my favorite movie was The Whiz. Michael Jackson was the scarecrow come on now," DJ Donna Schiele remembered.
DJ Kyle Street recalls waiting outside in the middle of the night for a chance to get concert tickets to an Indianapolis Michael Jackson concert.
"The concert was during the week and you know we weren't supposed to be doing concerts during the week," Street said.
Jackson's fans told FOX 59 they did not admire his repeated scandals involving small children, but they say his music and moves should live on. "He was just an outstanding singer and performer. We were just talking about his dance moves and how no one else can imitate them," fan Billie Kay said.
A highly regarded Michael Jackson tribute band called "Who's Bad" will be performing in Central Indiana in September.
The first show is September 11 at The Vogue in Indianapolis
The second local performance for "Who's Bad" is September 12 at The Bluebird in Bloomington.
